I used to twist the garlands for the sacrificial animals of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, all of which were sheep, and then he would not enter the state of ihram.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن سفيان عن منصور عن إبراهيم عن الأسود
كنت أفتل قلائد هدي رسول الله ﷺ كلها غنما ثم لا يحرم
Agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Hajj, Chapter on Garlanding Sheep, hadith no. 1703, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, through this route. Muslim narrated it, hadith no. 1321, from the hadith of Mansur, through this route.
