The Prophet ﷺ hung two sandals on the sacrificial animal and marked it by making an incision on its right side at Dhu al-Hulayfah, then wiped the blood away from it.
حدثنا أبو كريب حدثنا وكيع عن هشام الدستوائي عن قتادة عن أبي حسان الأعرج
أن النبي ﷺ قلد نعلين وأشعر الهدي في الشق الأيمن بذي الحليفة وأماط عنه الدم
Muslim also narrated it in Hajj, chapter on marking and garlanding sacrificial animals at ihram, h: 1243, through Hisham Dastawai with the same wording. There is also a report on this subject from Miswar bin Makhrama [Bukhari, h: 2731, 2732].As for Imam Waki's statement, "Do not look... etc," its chain is sahih, and likewise his statement about Ibrahim and others is sahih and firmly established from him.
