The Prophet ﷺ said, "The throwing of the pebbles at the Jamarat and the Sai between Safa and Marwa were ordained only for the establishment of the remembrance of Allah."
حدثنا نصر بن علي الجهضمي وعلي بن خشرم قالا حدثنا عيسى بن يونس عن عبيد الله بن أبي زياد عن القاسم بن محمد
عن النبي ﷺ قال إنما جعل رمي الجمار والسعي بين الصفا والمروة لإقامة ذكر الله
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapter on Rites of Pilgrimage, section on running (raml), no. 1888, from the hadith of Isa bin Yunus, with this same wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2882, 2970, as did Hakim (1/459) and Dhahabi. Ibn Abu Ziyad was deemed reliable by the majority, and his hadith is hasan.
