When Abdullah reached the Jamrah of Aqaba, he went down into the bottom of the valley, faced the qibla, and positioned the pillar so that it lay toward his right brow. Then he threw seven pebbles, saying the takbir with each one. Afterward he said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no god, it was from this very spot that the one to whom Surah Baqarah was revealed did his throwing."Hannad reported to us that Waki reported to us from Masudi, from Ibn Umar, that whenever the Prophet ﷺ went to stone the pillars, he walked there and walked back.
حدثنا يوسف بن عيسى حدثنا وكيع حدثنا المسعودي عن جامع بن شداد أبي صخرة عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد قال لما أتى عبد الله جمرة العقبة استبطن الوادي واستقبل القبلة وجعل يرمي الجمرة على حاجبه الأيمن ثم رمى بسبع حصيات يكبر مع كل حصاة ثم قال والله الذي لا إله إلا هو من هاهنا رمى الذي أنزلت عليه سورة البقرة حدثنا هناد حدثنا وكيع عن المسعودي بهذا الإسناد نحوه
[Sahih] Ibn Majah also reported it in "the Book of Rituals of Hajj, chapter on where to stone Jamra Uqba from," no. 3030, from the hadith of Waki, with this wording, and it is agreed upon [Bukhari: 1747 and Muslim: 1296] from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid, with this wording. On this subject there is also a report from Fadl bin Abbas [Nasai, no. 3081, and Ibn Khuzayma, no. 2881, 2887], from Ibn Abbas [Nasai, no. 3061], from Ibn Umar [mentioned previously at 900], and from Jabir [Muslim, no. 1218].
