The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at Arafah and said, "This is Arafah, and this is the standing place, and all of Arafah is a standing place."Then he departed when the sun had set, with Usama bin Zayd riding behind him. He kept gesturing with his hand calmly while the people were striking right and left. He turned toward them and said, "People, be calm."Then he came to Jam (Muzdalifah) and prayed the two prayers there together. When morning came, he went to Quzah and stood upon it and said, "This is Quzah, and it is the standing place, and all of Jam is a standing place."Then he set off until he reached the valley of Muhassir, where he struck his she-camel and it trotted until he had crossed the valley. Then he stopped and had Fadl ride behind him. Then he came to the Jamrah and pelted it. Then he came to the place of sacrifice and said, "This is the place of sacrifice, and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice."A young woman from Khathaam sought his ruling, saying, "My father is an old man upon whom Allah's obligation of Hajj has come. Will it suffice if I perform Hajj on his behalf?"He replied, "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father."He turned Fadl's neck away, and Abbas asked, "Messenger of Allah, why did you turn the neck of your cousin's son?"He said, "I saw a young man and a young woman, and I did not trust Satan with them."Then a man came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, I performed the ifadah before I shaved."He said, "Shave or trim, there is no harm."Another man came and said, "Messenger of Allah, I slaughtered before I pelted."He said, "Pelt, there is no harm."Then he came to the House and circumambulated it. Then he came to Zamzam and said, "Sons of Abdul-Muttalib, were it not that people would overcome you for it, I would draw water myself."
Its chain of transmission is daif. It was also related by Abu Dawud in the Book of Rites of Hajj, chapter on the prayer at Jamm, no. 1935, and Ibn Majah, no. 3010, through the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, but he was a mudallis and narrated it using "an" (indicating possible concealment in the chain). The hadith of Ahmad, 1/76, has a hasan chain of transmission, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2837, 2889, as did Ibn Jarud, no. 471, which suffices in its place. There is also a report on this subject from Jabir [Muslim, no. 1218].
