A man stood up and asked, "Messenger of Allah, what clothing do you command us to wear while in the state of ihram?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Do not wear shirts, trousers, hooded cloaks, turbans, or leather socks, unless someone cannot find sandals, in which case he may wear leather socks but should cut them below the ankles. Do not wear any garment touched by saffron or wars dye. A woman in ihram must not cover her face with a veil, nor wear gloves."

قام رجل فقال يا رسول الله ماذا تأمرنا أن نلبس من الثياب في الحرم فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا تلبسوا القمص ولا السراويلات ولا البرانس ولا العمائم ولا الخفاف إلا أن يكون أحد ليست له نعلان فليلبس الخفين وليقطعهما ما أسفل من الكعبين ولا تلبسوا شيئا من الثياب مسه الزعفران ولا الورس ولا تنتقب المرأة الحرام ولا تلبس القفازين
Sourcing, agreed upon (by Bukhari and Muslim). Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, chapter on what is permissible for one in ihram, whether for Hajj or Umrah, to wear, no. 1178, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani.
