The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not fast on Saturday except for what Allah has made obligatory upon you. If one of you finds nothing but the bark of a grapevine or the twig of a tree, let him chew it."
حدثنا حميد بن مسعدة حدثنا سفيان بن حبيب عن ثور بن يزيد عن خالد بن معدان
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لا تصوموا يوم السبت إلا فيما افترض الله عليكم فإن لم يجد أحدكم إلا لحاء عنبة أو عود شجرة فليمضغه
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in Sawm, chapter on the prohibition of singling out Saturday for fasting, hadith 2421, from Humayd bin Masada with the same wording, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, 3/317, hadith 2163.
