The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days at the beginning of every month, and he rarely broke his fast on Friday.
حدثنا القاسم بن دينار حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى وطلق بن غنام عن شيبان عن عاصم عن زر

Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith: 2129, as did Ibn Hibban (al-Ihsan): 3637.There is also a narration on this topic from Ibn Umar [Abu Yaala: 71/10, hadith: 5709, and Bazzar: 499/1, hadith: 1071], and from Abu Hurairah [to come: 743].
