A man asked him, "Which month do you advise me to fast after Ramadan?"He replied, "I have not heard anyone ask about this except a man whom I heard ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was sitting beside him. He said, 'Messenger of Allah, which month do you advise me to fast after Ramadan?' He answered, 'If you wish to fast after Ramadan, then fast Muharram, for it is the month of Allah. In it there is a day on which He accepted the repentance of one people, and on which He will accept the repentance of others.'"
حدثنا علي بن حجر قال أخبرنا علي بن مسهر عن عبد الرحمن بن إسحق عن النعمان بن سعد
سأله رجل فقال أي شهر تأمرني أن أصوم بعد شهر رمضان قال له ما سمعت أحدا يسأل عن هذا إلا رجلا سمعته يسأل رسول الله ﷺ وأنا قاعد عنده فقال يا رسول الله أي شهر تأمرني أن أصوم بعد شهر رمضان قال إن كنت صائما بعد شهر رمضان فصم المحرم فإنه شهر الله فيه يوم تاب فيه على قوم ويتوب فيه على قوم آخرين
