The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the zakat of Fitr at the end of Ramadan obligatory upon every Muslim, whether free or slave, male or female, in the amount of one saa of dates or one saa of barley.
حدثنا إسحق بن موسى الأنصاري حدثنا معن حدثنا مالك عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ فرض زكاة الفطر من رمضان صاعا من تمر أو صاعا من شعير على كل حر أو عبد ذكر أو أنثى من المسلمين
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat, Chapter on Sadaqat al-Fitr for the slave and other Muslims, hadith no. 1504, and Muslim, hadith no. 984. See the previous hadith, narrated from Malik through this same chain, found in Muwatta, 1/284 (Yahya).
