The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the zakat of Fitr obligatory upon every male and female, free person and slave, as one saa of dates or one saa of barley. The narrator said, "Then the people considered half a saa of wheat as its equivalent."

فرض رسول الله ﷺ صدقة الفطر على الذكر والأنثى والحر والمملوك صاعا من تمر أو صاعا من شعير قال فعدل الناس إلى نصف صاع من بر
Agreed upon. Bukhari reported it in the Book of Zakat, chapter on Zakat al-Fitr for the free and the enslaved, hadith no. 1511, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd, and Muslim in the Book of Zakat, chapter on Zakat al-Fitr owed by Muslims paid in dates and barley, hadith no. 984, from the hadith of Nafi, with the same chain.On this topic there are also narrations from Abu Saeed [already mentioned at 673], Ibn Abbas [Abu Dawud, hadith no. 1609], the grandfather of Harith bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zubab [Ahmad 4/79, his hadith is on charity but in a different chapter], Thalaba bin Abu Sughayr [Abu Dawud, hadith nos. 1619–1621], and Abdullah bin Amr [already mentioned at 674].
