One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ performed a full bath from a large bowl. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then wanted to perform ablution from it.She said, "Messenger of Allah, I was in a state of major ritual impurity."He replied, "Water does not become impure."
Its chain of transmission is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Tahara, the chapter titled Water Is Not Rendered Impure, hadith 68, and Ibn Majah narrated it as hadith 370, from the hadith of Abu Ahwas with this same wording. Simak is daif when narrating from Ikrima, though his narration is sahih when it comes from others, provided he narrated it before his memory became confused. The hadith of Muslim, no. 323, and others make it unnecessary.
