Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, may we perform ablution from the well of Budaah, when it is a well into which menstrual cloths, the flesh of dogs, and foul refuse are thrown?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Water is pure, and nothing renders it impure."
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter on what has been said about the well of Budaah, no. 66, from Hasan bin Ali with this wording, and Ahmad, Ibn Main, Hakim, Baghawi, and others graded it sahih. [Talkhis Habir 1/13, no. 2]There is also a narration on this subject from Ibn Abbas [Abu Dawud, no. 68, and Tirmidhi, see the previous hadith] and from Ayesha [Ahmad 6/172], and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih [1/124, no. 251].
