I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The one who collects charity justly is like a warrior in the path of Allah until he returns to his home."
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا يزيد بن عياض عن عاصم بن عمر بن قتادة ح و حدثنا محمد بن إسمعيل قال حدثنا أحمد بن خالد عن محمد بن إسحق عن عاصم بن عمر بن قتادة عن محمود بن لبيد
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول العامل على الصدقة بالحق كالغازي في سبيل الله حتى يرجع إلى بيته
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]Abu Dawud also reported it in the Book of Taxation and Fay, the chapter on employment for collecting sadaqah, hadith 2936, from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq with the same chain, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly in the version recorded by Ahmad, 4/143. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith 2334, as did Hakim, 1/406, along with Dhahabi and others.
