The Prophet ﷺ used to send people to the public to estimate the yield of their grapevines and fruit trees. With this same chain of narration, the Prophet ﷺ said regarding the zakat on grapevines that they are to be estimated just as date palms are estimated, then their zakat is paid in raisins, just as the zakat on date palms is paid in dried dates.
Sourcing, its chain of transmission is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in Zakat, in the chapter on estimating the yield of date palms and grapes, no. 1819, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Nafi with the same wording. Abu Dawud said, no. 1603, "Saeed did not hear anything from Uttab," regarding the hadith, "It is estimated just as date palms are estimated..." and so on. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2316, as did Ibn Abu Ubayd in Habban (al-Ihsan), no. 3268. Munziri said, "Its discontinuity is evident." The hadith of Ibn Jurayj appears in Amwal, no. 1438.
