The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs ablution on Friday has done well and that suffices, but whoever performs the full bath, the bath is better."
حدثنا أبو موسى محمد بن المثنى حدثنا سعيد بن سفيان الجحدري حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن الحسن
قال رسول الله ﷺ من توضأ يوم الجمعة فبها ونعمت ومن اغتسل فالغسل أفضل
[Its isnad is hasan.] Nasai also narrated it, 3/94, hadith no. 1381 (Book of Friday, chapter on the permission to omit ghusl on Friday), from the hadith of Shuba with the same wording, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 1757. The hadith has corroborating narrations, found in Tusi's Mukhtasar Ahkam, 10/3, hadith no. 334/467, and in it Hasan Basri stated explicitly that he heard it at that point, from Abu Hurairah, Muslim, no. 857, and Anas, Ibn Majah, hadith no. 1091] and Ayesha, [Bukhari, hadith no. 902, and Muslim, hadith no. 847].
