The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever bathes on Friday and washes, comes early and proceeds promptly, draws near, listens attentively, and remains silent will receive for every step he takes the reward of a year of fasting and standing in prayer."Mahmud said that Waki explained, "He bathed himself and washed his wife."He also said that it is reported from Abdullah bin Mubarak that he said regarding this hadith, "Whoever washes and bathes," meaning he washed his head and bathed his body.

قال رسول الله ﷺ من اغتسل يوم الجمعة وغسل وبكر وابتكر ودنا واستمع وأنصت كان له بكل خطوة يخطوها أجر سنة صيامها وقيامها قال محمود قال وكيع اغتسل هو وغسل امرأته قال ويروى عن عبد الله بن المبارك أنه قال في هذا الحديث من غسل واغتسل يعني غسل رأسه واغتسل
[Sahih] Nasai also recorded it, 3/95-96, no. 1382 (Friday, chapter on the merit of bathing on the day) from the hadith of Yahya bin Harith with this same wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1767, and Ibn Hibban (Friday chapter) (al-Ihsan), 2770, and Hakim, on the criteria of the two Shaykhs, 1/281, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and Baghawi graded it hasan, though it has a defect that has been rejected.On the same subject there is also a report from Abu Bakr, Ibn Adi in al-Kamil, 4/1418, and Marwazi in Musnad Abu Bakr, no. 131, and from Imran bin Husayn, Tabarani in al-Kabir, 18/139-140, no. 292, and from Salman, Bukhari, 18/139, no. 883, 910, and Nasai, no. 1404, and from Abu Dharr, Ibn Majah, no. 1097, and from Abu Saeed, Abu Dawud, no. 343, and from Ibn Umar, Abd bin Humayd, no. 853, and from Abu Ayub, Ahmad, 5/420, and Ibn Khuzayma, 1775.
