He performed ablution, washing his hands until they were clean, then rinsing his mouth three times and inhaling water into his nose three times. He washed his face three times and his forearms three times, wiped his head once, then washed his feet up to the ankles. Then he stood up, took what was left of his ablution water, and drank it while standing. Then he said, "I wanted to show you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed his ablution."
حدثنا هناد وقتيبة قالا حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن أبي إسحق عن أبي حية قال
توضأ فغسل كفيه حتى أنقاهما ثم مضمض ثلاثا واستنشق ثلاثا وغسل وجهه ثلاثا وذراعيه ثلاثا ومسح برأسه مرة ثم غسل قدميه إلى الكعبين ثم قام فأخذ فضل طهوره فشربه وهو قائم ثم قال أحببت أن أريكم كيف كان طهور رسول الله ﷺ
[Sahih]. Abu Dawud also reported it in the Book of Purification, chapter on the description of the Prophet's ﷺ wudu, hadith no. 116, from the hadith of Abu Ahwas by the same route, and part of it was mentioned earlier at no. 44. Nasai reported it as well, 1/70, hadith no. 96, from Qutayba by the same route. Shubah also narrated it from Abu Ishaq by the same route, found in Nasai (1/87, hadith no. 136) and elsewhere, hasan.On this subject there are also narrations from Uthman [mentioned earlier under no. 44], Abdullah bin Zayd [mentioned earlier at nos. 47, 32], Ibn Abbas [mentioned earlier at no. 36], Abdullah bin Amr [Abu Dawud, hadith no. 135], Rabi [mentioned earlier at no. 34], Abdullah bin Unays, and Ayesha [mentioned earlier at no. 44, under the chapter], and Nasai 2/1, 73, hadith no. 100.
