The Prophet ﷺ had a bird before him and said, "O Allah, bring me the most beloved of Your creation to eat this bird with me." Then Ali came and ate with him.

Sourcing, [Hasan]. Nasai also narrated it in Khasais Ali, 10, from the hadith of Isa bin Umar Qari with the same wording, and it has corroborating narrations in Ibn Adi, 570/2, and elsewhere. Hatim bin Layth narrated it from Ubaydullah bin Musa with the same wording (Ilal Mutanahiya, 1/227, no. 363). The hadith has other routes in Bukhari's Tarikh al-Kabir, 3/2, and elsewhere, and it has one strong corroborating narration in Abu Yaala, from which it was transmitted in Bidaya wan Nihaya, 363/7.
