Uthman reported,
On the Day of the House, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted me with a covenant, and I shall remain patient upon it."

[Sahih]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Introduction, The virtue of Uthman , hadith no. 113, from the hadith of Waki with the same wording. Ismail bin Abu Khalid explicitly stated that he heard it directly, and the hadith has many corroborating narrations in Ibn Hibban and others.
