I heard the Prophet ﷺ one day mention the she-camel and the man who hamstrung her. He said, "When the most wretched of them was sent forth" [Shams 91:12]. The one sent forth for that task was a violent, powerful man, well-protected within his clan, like Abu Zamah. Then I heard him mention women, and he said, "What drives one of you to flog his wife as a slave is flogged, when he may well lie with her at the end of the same day?"Then he admonished them for laughing at someone breaking wind, saying, "Why does one of you laugh at what he himself does?"
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Prophets, chapter on Allah's statement, "And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih" [Araf 7:73], hadith no. 3377, and Muslim, hadith no. 2855, from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa, with the same wording.
