Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

We were at a funeral in al-Baqi when the Prophet ﷺ came and sat down, and we sat with him. He had a stick with which he was scratching the ground. Then he raised his head toward the sky and said, "There is no soul brought into being except that its place of entry has already been written."The people said, "Messenger of Allah, should we not then rely on what has been written for us? Whoever is among the people of happiness will work toward happiness, and whoever is among the people of misery will work toward misery."He replied, "Rather, keep working, for everyone is made easy toward what he was created for. As for the one who is among the people of happiness, he will be made easy toward the deeds of happiness. And as for the one who is among the people of misery, he will be made easy toward the deeds of misery."Then he recited, "As for the one who gives and is mindful, and affirms the best reward, We shall ease him toward ease. But as for the one who is stingy and considers himself self-sufficient, and denies the best reward, We shall ease him toward hardship" [Layl 92:5–10].

عن علي رضي الله عنه قال

كنا في جنازة في البقيع فأتى النبي ﷺ فجلس وجلسنا معه ومعه عود ينكت به في الأرض فرفع رأسه إلى السماء فقال ما من نفس منفوسة إلا قد كتب مدخلها فقال القوم يا رسول الله أفلا نتكل على كتابنا فمن كان من أهل السعادة فإنه يعمل للسعادة ومن كان من أهل الشقاء فإنه يعمل للشقاء قال بل اعملوا فكل ميسر أما من كان من أهل السعادة فإنه ييسر لعمل السعادة وأما من كان من أهل الشقاء فإنه ييسر لعمل الشقاء ثم قرأ {فأما من أعطى واتقى وصدق بالحسنى فسنيسره لليسرى وأما من بخل واستغنى وكذب بالحسنى فسنيسره للعسرى}
