The moon split during the time of the Prophet ﷺ until it became two pieces, one over this mountain and one over that mountain. The people said, "Muhammad has bewitched us."Some of them replied, "Even if he has bewitched us, he cannot bewitch all of mankind."

انشق القمر على عهد النبي ﷺ حتى صار فرقتين على هذا الجبل وعلى هذا الجبل فقالوا سحرنا محمد فقال بعضهم لئن كان سحرنا فما يستطيع أن يسحر الناس كلهم
Chain evaluation, sahih. Ahmad reported it, 4/81–82, from Muhammad bin Kathir with the same wording, and its chain of transmission is hasan. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (Ihsan), 6463, and the hadith has corroborating narrations.His statement, "Some of them narrated this hadith," refers to Abu, h. 2560, Jafar Razi, and Tabarani reported it through his route in Al-Kabir, 132/2.
