The Prophet ﷺ said, "Sam is the father of the Arabs, Ham is the father of the Abyssinians, and Yafith is the father of the Romans."
حدثنا بشر بن معاذ العقدي حدثنا يزيد بن زريع عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة عن قتادة عن الحسن
عن النبي ﷺ قال سام أبو العرب وحام أبو الحبش ويافث أبو الروم
[Its chain is daif] Tabari narrated it in Tarikh: 1/209 from the hadith of Yazid bin Zuray, and Ahmad: 5/10 from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, through this same route, and Shayban followed him in narrating it. Qatada used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana), and there are two daif corroborating narrations for it in Tabarani: 7/254, no. 7033, and 18/146, no. 309.
