Abu Hurairah reported,
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three. When he speaks, he lies. When he makes a promise, he breaks it. When he is entrusted with something, he betrays the trust."

Sahihحدثنا أبو حفص عمرو بن علي حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن قيس عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه
عن أبي هريرة قال
قال رسول الله ﷺ آية المنافق ثلاث إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا اؤتمن خان
Muslim also recorded it in the Book of Faith, Chapter on the Traits of the Hypocrite, no. 59, from the hadith of Yahya bin Muhammad Ibn Qays, with the same wording. Bukhari, no. 33, and Muslim recorded it through another route from Abu Hurairah 
, as will come later. On this subject there are also narrations from Abdullah bin Masud [Jafar Firyabi, in Sifat al-Munafiq, no. 7, its chain being sahih], from Anas [Abu Yaala 7/136, no. 4098], and from Jabir [Ibn Hibban, no. 61, and Bukhari in Tarikh al-Kabir 8/385, 386].The hadith of Ismail bin Jafar is agreed upon, recorded by Bukhari, no. 33, and Muslim, no. 59/107.
