The delegation of Abdul-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "We are from the tribe of Rabia, and we cannot reach you except during the sacred months. So instruct us with something we can take from you and call those behind us to."He said, "I command you with four things. Belief in Allah." Then he explained it to them, "Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakat, and paying one-fifth of whatever spoils you obtain."Qutayba narrated to us, Hammad bin Zayd narrated to us, from Abu Jamra, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet ﷺ, the like of it.
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا عباد بن عباد المهلبي عن أبي جمرة
قدم وفد عبد القيس على رسول الله ﷺ فقالوا إنا هذا الحي من ربيعة ولسنا نصل إليك إلا في أشهر الحرام فمرنا بشيء نأخذه عنك وندعو إليه من وراءنا فقال آمركم بأربع الإيمان بالله ثم فسرها لهم شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله وأني رسول الله وإقام الصلاة وإيتاء الزكاة وأن تؤدوا خمس ما غنمتم حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أبي جمرة عن ابن عباس عن النبي ﷺ مثله
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in "The Times of Prayer," chapter "Allah's saying, "Turning in repentance to Him, and fearing Him, and establishing prayer, and not being among those who associate partners with Him" [Rum 30:31]," hadith 523, from Qutayba. Muslim narrated it, hadith 17, from the hadith of Abbad, through the same chain.
