We would go a whole month in the household of Muhammad without lighting a fire for cooking. We had nothing but water and dates.He said, This is an authentic hadith.

Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Asceticism and Softening of Hearts, Chapter on the world being a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever, hadith no. 2972, from the hadith of Abdah bin Sulayman, through the same chain.
