The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He deserves, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They set out hungry in the morning and return full in the evening."
حدثنا علي بن سعيد الكندي حدثنا ابن المبارك عن حيوة بن شريح عن بكر بن عمرو عن عبد الله بن هبيرة عن أبي تميم الجيشاني
قال رسول الله ﷺ لو أنكم كنتم توكلون على الله حق توكله لرزقتم كما يرزق الطير تغدو خماصا وتروح بطانا
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Abu Naeem narrated it in Hilyat Awliya (10/69), and Nasai in Kubra (Tuhfat Ashraf, 8/79, no. 10586), from the hadith of Ibn Mubarak, through the same route, and it is found in his Zuhd, no. 559. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2548, as did Hakim (4/318).
