A man from among his companions passed away, and someone said, "Rejoice in Paradise."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How do you know? Perhaps he spoke of things that did not concern him, or was stingy with that which would not have diminished him."He said, this is a gharib hadith.
حدثنا سليمان بن عبد الجبار البغدادي حدثنا عمر بن حفص بن غياث حدثنا أبي عن الأعمش
توفي رجل من أصحابه فقال يعني رجلا أبشر بالجنة فقال رسول الله ﷺ أولا تدري فلعله تكلم فيما لا يعنيه أو بخل بما لا ينقصه قال هذا حديث غريب

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Yahya bin Husayn Shajari related it in al-Amali, 1/127, and Abu Naeem in Hilyat Awliya, 5/55, 56, from the hadith of Umar bin Hafs through the same route. Abu Yaala also related it, no. 4017, through another route from Amash, through the same route. Amash narrated using the ambiguous formula "an" and did not hear from Anas.
