I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Woe to the one who tells a tale to make people laugh and lies in doing so. Woe to him! Woe to him!"

سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول ويل للذي يحدث بالحديث ليضحك به القوم فيكذب ويل له ويل له
Its isnad is hasan] Ahmad narrated it, 5/5, from Yahya Qattan through him, and Abu Dawud narrated it, no. 4990, and others.There is also a narration on this topic from Abu Hurairah [Bayhaqi in Shuab al-Iman, no. 4832, and Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah, 14/319].
