The wife of Saad bin Rabi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with her two daughters from Saad and said, "Messenger of Allah, these are the two daughters of Saad bin Rabi. Their father was killed fighting alongside you as a martyr at the Battle of Uhud. Their uncle has taken their inheritance and left them nothing, and they cannot be married off without any wealth."He replied, "Allah will decide on this matter."Then the verse of inheritance was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for their uncle and said, "Give the two daughters of Saad two-thirds, give their mother one-eighth, and whatever remains is yours."
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding the Inheritance of Direct Descendants, hadith no. 2891, and Ibn Majah, hadith no. 2720, from the hadith of Ibn Aqeel, with the same wording. Hakim graded it sahih (4:333, 334), and Dhahabi agreed with him. Ibn Aqeel was mentioned earlier at no. 128.
