Whenever any of his family was struck by fever, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would order that broth be prepared, and once it was made, he would instruct them to sip it. He would say, "It mends the heart of the grieving and clears away the ailment from the heart of the sick, just as one of you washes dirt from her face with water."
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع أخبرنا إسمعيل بن إبراهيم حدثنا محمد بن السائب بن بركة عن أمه
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أخذ أهله الوعك أمر بالحساء فصنع ثم أمرهم فحسوا منه وكان يقول إنه ليرتق فؤاد الحزين ويسرو عن فؤاد السقيم كما تسرو إحداكن الوسخ بالماء عن وجهها
[Its isnad is hasan]. Ibn Majah also narrated it, in the Book of Medicine, chapter on Talbinah, no. 3445, and Hakim: 4/405, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, with the same wording. Hakim graded it sahih: 4/117, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Its chain is hasan.The hadith of Husayn bin Muhammad is hasan through the hadith of Umm Muhammad bin Saaib bin Barakah.
