The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to visit me, and Ali was with him. We had clusters of dates hanging up. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to eat, and Ali started eating along with him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ali, "Stop, stop, Ali. You are still recovering from illness."So Ali sat back while the Prophet ﷺ continued eating. Then I prepared some chard and barley for them, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Ali, have some of this. It suits you better."
حدثنا عباس بن محمد الدوري حدثنا يونس بن محمد حدثنا فليح بن سليمان عن عثمان بن عبد الرحمن التيمي عن يعقوب بن أبي يعقوب
دخل علي رسول الله ﷺ ومعه علي ولنا دوال معلقة قالت فجعل رسول الله ﷺ يأكل وعلي معه يأكل فقال رسول الله ﷺ لعلي مه مه يا علي فإنك ناقه قال فجلس علي والنبي ﷺ يأكل قالت فجعلت لهم سلقا وشعيرا فقال النبي ﷺ يا علي من هذا فأصب فإنه أوفق لك
[Its isnad is hasan]. Hakim graded it sahih (4/407), and Dhahabi agreed with him.The hadith of Muhammad bin Bashshar was narrated by Ibn Majah, no. 3442.The hadith of Amr bin Abu Amr was narrated by Ahmad in Zuhd, and its chain is sahih.The hadith of Abu Amir was narrated by Abu Dawud, no. 3856.
