The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah loves a servant, He shields him from the world, just as one of you keeps water away from his sick patient."

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا أحب الله عبدا حماه الدنيا كما يظل أحدكم يحمي سقيمه الماء
[Sahih] Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it in Zawaid al-Musnad, p. 11, no. 57, from the hadith of Ismail bin Jafar with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2474, as did Hakim, 4/207, 309, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations.There is also a narration on this topic from Suhayb, in Ibn Majah, no. 3443, which Busiri graded sahih, as did Hakim, 3/439, 411, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and its chain is hasan. And from Umm Mundhir [see no. 2037 below].Mahmud bin Lasad was a companion, and the mursal narrations of companions are all sahih.
