Two men arrived during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and delivered speeches that astonished the people with their eloquence. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to us and said, "Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery," or, "Indeed, a portion of eloquence is sorcery."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد عن زيد بن أسلم
أن رجلين قدما في زمان رسول الله ﷺ فخطبا فعجب الناس من كلامهما فالتفت إلينا رسول الله ﷺ فقال إن من البيان سحرا أو إن بعض البيان سحر
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] and Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage, chapter on the sermon, hadith: 5146, from the hadith of Zayd bin Aslam through the same route. On this subject there is also a narration from Ammar [Muslim, hadith: 869], Ibn Masud [Ahmad: 1/454], and Abdullah bin Shikhir [I did not find it].
