The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Charity does not diminish wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases him in honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him in status."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال ما نقصت صدقة من مال وما زاد رجلا بعفو إلا عزا وما تواضع أحد لله إلا رفعه الله
[Its isnad is sahih] Muslim also narrated it in "Righteousness and Kinship Ties," chapter on the recommendation of pardon and humility, no. 2588, from the hadith of Ala through this same route. There is also a narration on this topic from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf (the author is referring to his hadith in Shamail, no. 378, or Ahmad, 1/193), from Ibn Abbas (Tabarani in Kabir, 12/219, no. 12939), and from Abu Kabsha Anmari (to come, no. 2325).
