The Prophet ﷺ said, "Modesty and reserved speech are two branches of faith, while obscenity and excessive eloquence are two branches of hypocrisy."
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن أبي غسان محمد بن مطرف عن حسان بن عطية
عن النبي ﷺ قال الحياء والعي شعبتان من الإيمان والبذاء والبيان شعبتان من النفاق
Its isnad is sahih. Ahmad reported it: 5/269, from the hadith of Abu Ghassan through the same chain. Hakim graded it sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim): 1/8, 9, and Dhahabi agreed with him, while Iraqi graded it hasan.
