I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and when the Prophet ﷺ needed to relieve himself, he went far away to do so.

[Its chain of transmission is hasan] It was also narrated by Ibn Majah, Purification, chapter on keeping distance when relieving oneself in the open, hadith 334, and Abu Dawud, hadith 1, and others, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Amr Laythi, with the same wording. It was graded sahih by Ibn Jarud, hadith 27, Ibn Khuzayma, 1/30, hadith 50, Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah, 1/373, hadith 184, and Hakim, who said it meets the standard of Muslim, 1/140, and Dhahabi agreed with him.On this subject there are also narrations from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Qarad [Ibn Majah, hadith 334, and others], Abu Qatada [we did not find it], Jabir [Ibn Majah, hadith 335, and Abu Dawud, hadith 2], Yahya bin Ubayd from his father [narrated by Abu Naeem and others, Isabah, 2/443, and Abu Zura said it is mursal, Ilal al-Hadith, 1/41, hadith 87], Abu Musa [Abu Dawud, hadith 3], Ibn Abbas [Tabarani in Awsat, 10/141–142, hadith 9300], and Bilal bin Harith [Ibn Majah, hadith 336].As for the hadith stating that he used to seek out a place for relieving himself, and so on, we did not find it with this wording. Tabarani narrated in Awsat, 4/69, hadith 3088, from the hadith of Yahya bin Ubayd, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who said, "The Messenger of Allah used to choose a place for relieving himself just as he would choose a place to settle in" (its chain of transmission is hasan).
