The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best of companions in the sight of Allah is the one who is best to his companion, and the best of neighbors in the sight of Allah is the one who is best to his neighbor."
[Its isnad is sahih]. Ahmad reported it (2/167) from the hadith of Haywa bin Shurayh, through the same route. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (2051), as did Ibn Khuzayma (4/140, no. 2539), and Hakim (2/101, 443, 4/164), saying it meets the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
