Asma bint Yazid reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Lying is not permissible except in three cases. A man's speaking to his wife to please her, lying in war, and lying to bring about reconciliation between people."Mahmud said in his narration, "Lying is not appropriate except in three cases."This is a hasan hadith. We do not know it from the narration of Asma except through the narration of Ibn Khuthaym. Dawud bin Abu Hind also narrated this hadith from Shahr bin Hawshab from the Prophet ﷺ, without mentioning Asma in it. Muhammad bin Ala narrated this to us, saying Ibn Abu Zaida narrated to us from Dawud.

عن أسماء بنت يزيد قالت

قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يحل الكذب إلا في ثلاث يحدث الرجل امرأته ليرضيها والكذب في الحرب والكذب ليصلح بين الناس و قال محمود في حديثه لا يصلح الكذب إلا في ثلاث هذا حديث حسن لا نعرفه من حديث أسماء إلا من حديث ابن خثيم وروى داود بن أبي هند هذا الحديث عن شهر بن حوشب عن النبي ﷺ ولم يذكر فيه عن أسماء حدثنا بذلك محمد بن العلاء حدثنا ابن أبي زائدة عن داود
