The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever fasts a single day for the sake of Allah, Allah will place between him and the Fire a trench as vast as the distance between the heavens and the earth."This is a rare hadith from the narrations of Abu Umama.

[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Tabarani also reported it in Al-Kabir, 8/281, no. 7921, from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun through the same route, and the hadith has corroborating narrations in Tabarani's Al-Awsat and elsewhere.
