The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I had previously forbidden you from eating the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days, so that those of means could share with those who had none. Now eat as much as you wish, feed others, and store what you like."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار ومحمود بن غيلان والحسن بن علي الخلال وغير واحد قالوا أخبرنا أبو عاصم النبيل حدثنا سفيان الثوري عن علقمة بن مرثد
قال رسول الله ﷺ كنت نهيتكم عن لحوم الأضاحي فوق ثلاث ليتسع ذو الطول على من لا طول له فكلوا ما بدا لكم وأطعموا وادخروا
Muslim also narrated it, hadith 977 after 1975, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, through the same route.On the same subject there are narrations from Ibn Masud [Ahmad 1/452], Ayesha [coming up 1511], Nubaysha [Abu Dawud, hadith 2813] with its origin in Sahih Muslim [hadith 1141], Abu Saeed [Muslim, hadith 1973], Qatada bin Numan [Bukhari, hadith 3997], Anas [Bayhaqi 4/77 and Ahmad 3/237, 250], and Umm Salama [I did not find it].
