The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever keeps a dog or acquires a dog that is neither a hunting dog nor a livestock dog, two qirats are deducted from his reward each day."

قال رسول الله ﷺ من اقتنى كلبا أو اتخذ كلبا ليس بضار ولا كلب ماشية نقص من أجره كل يوم قيراطان
Agreed upon. Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Slaughtered Animals and Hunting, chapter on one who keeps a dog that is not for hunting or livestock, hadith no. 5482, and Muslim, hadith no. 1574, both from the hadith of Nafi through the same route. Ahmad also narrated it, 4/2, from Ismail bin Ibrahim, who is Ibn Ulaya, through the same route.On this subject there are also narrations from Abdullah bin Mughafal [to come, no. 1499], Abu Hurairah [to come, no. 1490], and Sufyan bin Abu Zuhayr [Bukhari, hadith no. 2323, and Muslim, hadith no. 1576].
