During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a woman in postnatal bleeding would observe a period of forty days, and we used to apply wars dye to our faces to treat the dark blemishes.
[Hasan]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of Purification, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding the Duration of the Postpartum Woman's Bleeding, hadith no. 311, from the hadith of Ali bin Abdul-Ala, through the same route. Hakim graded it sahih in 1/175, as did Dhahabi, and Nawawi graded it hasan, and this is supported by the consensus.
