The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You bring your disputes to me, and I am only a human being. It may be that some of you are more eloquent in presenting their case than others. So if I rule in favor of one of you concerning something that belongs by right to his brother, I am only cutting off for him a piece of the Fire, so let him not take it."
حدثنا هارون بن إسحق الهمداني حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن زينب بنت أم سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ إنكم تختصمون إلي وإنما أنا بشر ولعل بعضكم أن يكون ألحن بحجته من بعض فإن قضيت لأحد منكم بشيء من حق أخيه فإنما أقطع له قطعة من النار فلا يأخذ منه شيئا
Agreed upon. Bukhari transmitted it in "Testimonies," chapter on one who produces evidence after taking the oath, no. 2680, and Muslim, no. 1713, from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa, with this wording.There is also a report on this subject from Abu Hurairah [Ibn Majah, no. 2318] and Ayesha, the latter apparently referring to the hadith of Bukhari, no. 2053, 7182, and Muslim, no. 1457.
