The Prophet ﷺ ruled that the right to a thing's produce belongs to the one who bears its liability. He said, "This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith from the narrations of Hisham bin Urwa."
حدثنا أبو سلمة يحيى بن خلف أخبرنا عمر بن علي المقدمي عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن النبي ﷺ قضى أن الخراج بالضمان قال هذا حديث حسن صحيح غريب من حديث هشام بن عروة
[Hasan] Abu Dawud also narrated it, no. 3510, and Ibn Majah, no. 2243, from the hadith of Hisham through the same chain. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 626, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 1126, and Hakim, 15/2, and Dhahabi. The preceding hadith serves as a corroborating witness for it.* The hadith of Muslim bin Khalid Zanji was narrated by Ibn Majah, no. 2243, and Abu Dawud, no. 3510.
