The Prophet ﷺ said, "The hand is responsible for what it took until it returns it."Qatada said that al-Hasan later forgot this and said, "He is your trustee and bears no liability," meaning regarding a borrowed item.
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن سعيد عن قتادة عن الحسن
عن النبي ﷺ قال على اليد ما أخذت حتى تؤدي قال قتادة ثم نسي الحسن فقال فهو أمينك لا ضمان عليه يعني العارية
Its chain is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Charities, chapter on Borrowed Items, no. 2400, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Abu Adi, and Abu Dawud, no. 3561, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, through the same route, and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 124, as did Hakim, who said it meets the criteria of Bukhari, 2/47, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Qatada is a mudallis narrator who used the ambiguous form "an" in his transmission.
