I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "No one hoards except a sinner."I said to Saeed, "Abu Muhammad, you yourself hoard."He replied, "Muamar also used to hoard."
حدثنا إسحق بن منصور أخبرنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا محمد بن إسحق عن محمد بن إبراهيم عن سعيد بن المسيب
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا يحتكر إلا خاطئ فقلت لسعيد يا أبا محمد إنك تحتكر قال ومعمر قد كان يحتكر
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah recorded it in the Book of Trade, chapter on hoarding and bringing goods to market, no. 2154, from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, and Muslim, no. 1605, from the hadith of Saeed bin Musayab, with the same wording.There is also a report on this topic from Umar [Ibn Majah, no. 2153, 3155], from Ali [Ibn Abu Shayba, no. 104/6], and from Abu Umama, narrated by Razin as in Mishkat, though I could not find it, and from Ibn Umar [Ahmad, 33/2]. No. 2898.
