"Shall I read to you a document the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote for me?"I said, "Yes, please."So he brought out a document which read, "This is what Adda bin Khalid bin Hawdha purchased from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He purchased from him a slave," or "a slave-girl, free from any disease, defect, or ill-gotten origin, the sale of one Muslim to another Muslim."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار أخبرنا عباد بن ليث صاحب الكرابيسي البصري أخبرنا عبد المجيد بن وهب قال قال لي
ألا أقرئك كتابا كتبه لي رسول الله ﷺ قال قلت بلى فأخرج لي كتابا هذا ما اشترى العداء بن خالد بن هوذة من محمد رسول الله ﷺ اشترى منه عبدا أو أمة لا داء ولا غائلة ولا خبثة بيع المسلم المسلم
[Hasan] Ibn Majah also narrated it in "The Book of Trade," chapter on buying slaves, hadith no. 2251, from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording. Bukhari mentioned it in passing before hadith no. 2079 using the phrase indicating weakness, while Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith no. 1028, and Ibn Hajar graded it hasan in Fath al-Bari, 12/350.
