I had a wife whom I loved, but my father disliked her. My father ordered me to divorce her, but I refused. I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Abdullah bin Umar, divorce your wife."
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on kindness to parents, no. 5138, and Ibn Majah, no. 2088, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Dhib, with this wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in al-Ihsan, 427, 428, and Hakim graded it on the criterion of the two sheikhs, 22/197, 4/152, 153, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
